At 12:40 am on September 1, 2026, the good Lord called our father home to be with all of his loved ones that he has missed throughout the years
Richard Paul Golightly was born on September 25, 1940 to Gilbert and Dora Strong Golightly. He was the older brother to Leonard (Linda) Golightly
Husband to his Princess Judith Lee Golightly. He was the father to Leslie (Earl) Boyer, Robert (Alicia) Golightly, Lisa (Jeff) Pitts, Ryan (Maurine) Golightly, Jeffery (Merideth) Golightly.
Dad was the grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Dad, to his chosen fur babies Molly and Tobie
Dad is survived by children grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister in law Teresa (Jerry) Rechtenbach, ex daughter-in-laws Corrie Golightly, Judie Golightly, Nephew, Nieces, many cousins, friends, including his Thursday brunch/lunch, buddy Sherry Smith.
Proceeded in death by his grandparents, his parents Gilbert and Dora Golightly, his loving wife, Judy Golightly, father and mother in law Dean & Hazel Broadhead, brothers in law Paul and Gary Broadhead, granddaughter and grandson Kierstin & Baby G. His daughter Leslie Anne Boyer, his Grandaughter Faith Elizabeth Pitts, Sister-in-Law Linda Golightly and many, many other loved ones.
Dad’s hobbies in life were boating, water skiing, golfing.
His life’s goal was making sure his kids stayed on the straight and narrow and were hard-working, productive human beings. Also making sure there were no dandelions in his yard!
Dad was always tough and gruff and at the time and we kids thought he was hard on us, but now we realize he was just setting us up in life to be hard-working and self-sufficient adults.
We always joked that Dad was like a candy bar…he had a hard crunchy shell on the outside of his body, but a soft gooey center in the middle. He would always smile when we said this to him and never denied it.
Dad served in the US Navy as a decoder and traveled the world. He was retired from Litton Industries and was a hard-working man!
My favorite saying goes and is especially true for Dad, “Any man can be a father, but it takes a special kind of man to choose to be a dad.”
We will love you and miss you, Dad. We will try and stay true to everything you taught us and continue to make you proud of us.
Take care of Mom, the babies, Leslie and Faithy. Enjoy your time with your grandparents, your parents and all the rest of your loved ones in heaven…. until we meet again and it’s our turn to join you.
We love you, Dad. Thank you for everything.
With all our love,
Your children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
