Robert Howe Farrell

–

Ogden, UT

Retired Colonel, U.S.A.F

Bob was born on February 9, 1918 in Murray, Utah and passed away quietly on April 15, 2006 in Ogden, Utah. His parents were Veva Ann Trott and Albert T. Farrell. While growing up, his brother, Kenneth and sister, Marjorie (Richardson) were his best friends.

At age twelve, Bob bargained with a barn-storming biplane pilot for a $3 ride. The brief flight above Cedar City and along the mountain range was the beginning of Bob’s love for flying. In 1939, during his senior year at the University of Utah, Bob was recruited into the Army Air Corp as a candidate for officer’s training and flight school. He overcame airsickness to become an outstanding pilot: to land a crippled plane in a football field, to train World War II pilots, to command Osan Air Base in Korea, to serve as Weapons System Officer of the F-101 Fighter Wing at Hill Air Base, and to earn the Command Pilot medal and many other military accommodations. He retired to his home in South Ogden after 30 years of outstanding service in the U.S.A.F. and was awarded the distinguished Legion of Merit.

His “forever love” is Lillian May Belliston, high school sweetheart to whom he was married in San Antonio, Texas on February 8, 1941. Their marriage was solemnized on October 20th of that same year in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with three children: Dianne (DeVon Hale), Linda (Roy West), and Robert T. (Jan Blanch) and posterity of 17 grandchildren and 33 great grand children. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, brother and grandson (Michael West). He has expressed his love of Lillian, family, country, and God. Now God will pilot him “Home”.

Funeral services will be at the L.D.S. Stake Center at 5640 South 850 East in South Ogden at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 20th. A viewing will be held at the same address on Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. and on Thursday one hour prior to the services.
