“Dee”\nOur beloved father, Roland “Dee” Walters, passed away at his home April 7, 2009 from lung cancer. Born June 1, 1931 to Roland A and Dora Jean Walters. He grew up in Murray where he attended Granite High School and was active and excelled in sports.\nDad married Veon Nielson May 20, 1950 who passed in 1999; they have five children.\nDad worked for Kennecott Copper for 32 years before retiring. Dad loved spending time at the family cabin in Tabiona, UT. If you could not find Dad golfing—spring, summer, fall—you would find him in the bowling alley, but rarely would you find him idle. Dad loved to garden and share his harvest. Dad will be sorely missed by all his colleagues, friends and family. Dad will be remembered mostly by his wonderful sense of humor. \nDad was preceded in death by his wife, Veon; daughter Rochelle; brother, Shane; and parents, Jean and Roland. He is survived by his friend and companion of seven years, Darlene; his children, Dick (Nadine), Mark, Khristie Mitchell, Lori Best (Jon); nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Karen Keller; and brother, Lynn.\nDarlene will be hosting a Celebration of Dad’s Life on April 18th and all of his family and friends are welcome to join. Our family would like to thank Darlene and her family for sharing their lives with him, loving and caring for him to the end, and all their help and support in this very difficult time in our lives.
