Rose Tuakoi

–

West Valley City, Utah

Born in Honolulu, Hawai'i to Sione Takapautolo and Mele Manu Kinikini on October 29, 1971, Dyan Rose came into this world with her built-in best friend and twin brother, Kime Takapautolo Kinikini.

Rose is the fifth of nine children and gifted beyond measure in music. Rose was first chair in cello and violin in several orchestras. By the age of 14, Rose could play Handel's Messiah in its entirety. A pianist who can play any arrangement on first sight (with or without notes), she is musically unmatched.

Before starting a family of her own, Rose taught her many nieces and nephews to harmonize and sing on key while developing their individual love for music through genres ranging from church hymns to R&B and neo-soul.

Rose served a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1993 to 1994 in Washington, D.C. Her love for and complete dependence on her Savior showed in her sweet voice, her selfless service, and the relationships she cherished with family and friends near and far. Rose's love is unconditional. She's the listening ear, the voice of reason, and the outside perspective that helped those around her see other's through Christ's eyes.

Rose was sealed for time and all eternity to Simote Tu'akoi on August 28, 1999 in the Salt Lake Temple. To their family unit, they added five children: Sunia Hinckley Kinikini (22), Elizabeth Roslyn (17), Kime Takapautolo Kinikini (16), Kava Kinikini (14) and Sione Latu (7) Tu'akoi. Her children were her everything!

Rose passed through the veil on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in West Valley City, Utah. She is preceded by her parents: Sione Takapautolo & Mele Manu Kinikini, brothers: Kime Takapautolo (Ana Michelle) and Muli-ki-Uiha (Lorin) Kinikini, and her favorite uncle, Sione Latu.

In addition to her husband and children, Rose leaves behind her only sister, Mele Lilo (Siotame) Fangupo, brothers: Tevita Elini (Eusenia), Paula Langi (Ofeira), Viliami Muli (Sipola), Sunia Foliaki (Trinidad), and Semisi Ula (Veroly) Kinikini, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own.
