“By My Side”
My loving Wife, Royanne Lynn George Stam, Mother and Grandmother, quietly passed away embraced by her family, at home in South Jordan, Utah, June 4, 2009 at the age of 71.
She was born November 29, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to LeRoy George and Estelle Lucille Platts George. Royanne fought the good fight and courageous battle with end stage renal failure for several years.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, children, close relatives, and all who became acquainted with her kind, gentle, sweet demeanor and personality. She always tried to see the bright side, and never failed to carry her smile with her wherever she went, which won her many friends and admirers over the years.
Royanne attended Granite High School where she met her future husband Myron Eugene (Gene) Stam Jr. However, she achieved her High School graduation status several years later from Richmond High School in Richmond, California, an accomplishment that pleased her very much. Royanne married her high school sweetheart, Gene Stam, October 8, 1955. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona Temple, January 10, 1986.
Royanne felt her greatest desire and achievement was that of being a stay at home mother and homemaker which she performed at an extremely high level. Her children’s friends were welcomed into her home, happy to be around her, and her kitchen; especially if she was baking cookies, pies or pastries. Her characteristically good, loving nature made her a favorite of all those who came in contact with her.
She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and when she was younger she loved working with the youth in Young Women’s auxiliary of MIA, and did so in a number of leadership capacities. Additionally, she belonged to the Relief Society of the Church, and had leadership roles in the Relief Society. Her most recent calling in that particular auxiliary was that of Relief Society President. In addition, she served, along with her husband, in the South Jordan Temple for six years in the Baptistery. She cherished the time there and the friendships established during that period of time.
Royanne is survived by her husband; her three sons, Wade Eugene Stam, Clinton Russell (Tami) Stam, and Joseph M. (Sylvia) Stam; grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua, Jason and Jennifer; as well as a brother, Keith B. (Carol) George. She is preceded in death by her parents.
