–

Cottonwood Heights, Utah

Royce Carrol Cone, age 79, passed away at Huntsman Cancer Hospital with his wife at his side on August 3, 2022. Born March 16, 1943 in Winnsboro, Texas, he spent much of his life in Big Spring, Texas. In 1987, he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to marry his wife Alice.

In Salt Lake City Carrol was a commercial heating and air conditioning contractor who owned Quality HVAC Service. He was knowledgeable of all things mechanical, and up until a few days before his death, he could still diagnose a mechanical problem that was described to him. Among his friends, family, and clients, he was known for his kindness, friendly demeanor, helpfulness, and work ethic. In Utah he was also known for his distinctive Texas drawl.

Owning many dogs and cats over the years, Carrol loved animals and they loved him. From Alaska to Mexico and Central America to Peru, he enjoyed taking trips with his wife. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Carrol is survived by his wife, Alice Cone of Salt Lake City, Utah and his sister Mavis (David) Owens of Mt. Vernon, Texas. He is also survived by two children from a previous marriage: daughter, Carrol Ann Jobe (Marc Croan) of Wilson, Oklahoma and son, Tony (Sonia) Cone of Lubbock, Texas. He has four surviving grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dock and Gracie, and one grandson.

Royce Carrol Cone's ashes will be scattered on some Texas family land which held special memories for him. There will not be any Utah funeral services.

A special thank-you to all of the Huntsman staff who showed great kindness, care, and support these past months.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local animal shelter or to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation in Salt Lake City.
