Ruth W. Duke Melton Palmer passed away peacefully on July 4, 2008 at her home in Murray. She was born on July 20, 1915 in Salt Lake City to William Roy and Minna Rosenbaum Duke.\n\nRuth was a wonderful mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She loved people and was always there with love and support. She had an exceptional talent for music. She could hear any song once and play it through on the piano. She also taught herself to play the accordion. \n\nShe loved working in her yard and turned it into a place of beauty, winning honorable mention twice in the Murray City Landscape Beautification Program. She set a wonderful example for all who knew her. Cheerfully she endured to the end despite all the trials she faced in life.\n\nShe is survived by her son, Jack D. Melton (Colleen); daughters, G. Kay Andersen (Kenneth), Sherie J. Palmer (Fabrizio Stortoni); 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. \n\nA special thanks to Community Nursing Services Hospice for their loving care.\n\nFuneral services will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Ward Chapel on 5600 South 435 East, with a viewing on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State and one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Interment Murray City Cemetery.
