Ryan Vlaardingerbroek Obituary (1978 - 2021)

Click HERE to view Funeral Services for Ryan Vlaardingerbroek Ryan Vlaardingerbroek of Murray, Utah passed away March 25, 2021 from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was 42 years old. Ryan was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 31st, 1978 to Paul and Christine Vlaardingerbroek of Murray, Utah. Ryan was an energetic towheaded, blue-eyed little boy who was known for having a generous heart. As a child he was often seen sharing his cookies with others and was always insistent on hugs and kisses from everyone before saying goodbye. Many fond memories came from family trips to Rock Creek, Lake Powell, deep sea salmon fishing and camping with Grandma and Grandpa Vlaardingerbroek in Oak City. Ryan and his younger brother Justin experienced many childhood adventures together and may well have been the ones to coin the phrase “double trouble”. As the older brother, Ryan made it known that he was always the boss and when the two of them were involved in mischief was very quick to point the finger at Justin and say “it was his fault”. Ryan was an avid lover of the outdoors and enjoyed spending time skiing, fishing, hunting and riding motorbikes. He loved jeeps and spent many hours in his younger years making improvements to his own jeep and taking it four-wheeling in the mountains. He loved American Football and looked forward to football season each year when he would cheer on his favorite team, the Pittsburg Steelers. From a young age Ryan had a very creative spirit and loved building and creating things with his hands. He spent many hours tinkering with his grandpa Deans in his garage working on projects and learning the names and workings of many tools. He loved digging in the dirt and engaging in activities such as gardening and landscaping. He was an incredibly talented artist and his personal artwork was something that he took pride in and something that brought him much joy and satisfaction. He was skilled at painting, tile, electrical work and laying flooring and was always excited to share his love for new skills he had learned and perfected. We are deeply saddened by the loss of a life much too soon. Like that little boy many years ago, we would like to have insisted that Ryan gave us all hugs and kisses before saying goodbye, but we rejoice in the knowledge of the glorious reunion that will come when we see him once again both perfect and whole. He is survived by his parents Paul and Christine Vlaardingerbroek, brother Justin (Heather) Vlaardingerbroek, son Nicholas Martinez, Monica Martinez, nephews and nieces Tanner, Sariah, Carter and Kaitlynn Vlaardingerbroek and many aunts, uncles and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Raymond and Lois Deans, Elbert and Verona Vlaardingerbroek, aunt Nancy Janney, uncles Todd M. Deans, Donald L. Stevens and a cousin Brittani Rae Gifford. All are welcome to attend a viewing in his honor on Tuesday March 30th from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary 4760 South State Street Murray, Utah 84107. The service is limited to 150, masks are required and social distancing encouraged. Funeral Services will be held for close family and friends Wednesday March 31st at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing prior from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the Latter-day Saint chapel at 495 E. 5600 S.
