South Jordan, Utah
Sandra Kay Ross (Sandi) was born in Salt Lake City Utah, on January 25, 1951, to Theodore Maynard Jr. and Effie Maynard. She passed away on January 22, 2024, surrounded by her family. To know Sandi was to know selfless compassion and joy. She lived a life of boundless energy. Her life was a testament to her unwavering kindness and dedication to those around her.
She grew up in South Jordan, Utah with her 2 older brothers Byron and Dave, and 3 younger siblings, Troy, Darla, and Darwin. Sandi was not simply a sister, but also a second mom to her three younger siblings.
She attended Bingham High School, where, in her senior year, she crossed paths with a good-looking rebel in a 1955 Chevy Bel Air (you know the type) and fell in love with her eternal sweetheart Ronald K Ross (Ron). She was a sucker for the muscle car and great head of hair. They didn’t just share the same middle name, 8 months later they decided to share the same last name, and later were sealed for time and all eternity in the Jordan River (LDS) Temple.
Sandi had a gift and passion for teaching and helping children and adults with special needs. Her love for them grew into a professional career as she spent most of her career in the Jordan School District at South Valley School and Elk Meadows Elementary.
Sandi wasn’t the type of person to stand on the sidelines and watch her children’s events. Sandi was always involved in the young women’s program and school programs. Sandi got involved with the Midvale Arts Council, where she served as a pageant director and volunteer, she showcased her creativity and commitment to helping her community. Sandra's talents were also visible in the beautiful floats she organized for the city of Midvale. Additionally, her service in the ladies' auxiliary for the Midvale City volunteer firefighters exemplified her spirit of giving.
But perhaps Sandi’s greatest accomplishments and joy was found in the family they created together. As they raised their family in Midvale, Utah, you could see cars lining the street and laughter coming from the Ross home. In the middle of the party was Sandi; laughing, joking, and preparing food as she spent time with her children and their friends.
Sandi's heart was most full when surrounded by her family. She leaves behind her loving husband of 54 years, Ronald K Ross of South Jordan, Utah. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Traci Ross. Her legacy continues through her children: Travis (Brittany), Tristin (Kirk), and Trisha (Trevis). Sandra was a proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
The Ross family will welcome friends and loved ones to celebrate Sandra's life on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the South Jordan Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home located at 1007 West South Jordan Pkwy, South Jordan, UT 84095. The viewing will be from 10:30 to 11:30 am, followed by the service at 12:00 pm.
Sandra's journey was one of love, service, and unwavering commitment to her family and community. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.
