Sarah Fay Harward

1927~ 2017
Sarah Fay Harward, devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on August 26, 2017 in South Jordan, Utah. Sarah was born on September 30, 1927 to the late William H. Houskeeper and Martha Burnett Houskeeper.

She was the 9th of 11 children and loved sharing memories and stories of her childhood. She was very proud of her independent life before marriage, including working as a beautician, being a telephone operator, and working at Sun Valley, to name a few. Her passion and devotion was to her children, 17 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. She traveled the world with her husband Sherman, living in the Philippines and Hong Kong and visiting Jerusalem, Europe, Japan, and Micronesia. Her fondest memories of service in the LDS church was teaching Young Womens in California. She had a wonderful sense of humor, which sometimes revealed her sassy side. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, music—especially singing, as well as writing poems, and watching sports, reruns, and game shows. She was cheerful, gentle, and showed kindness to everyone.

She is survived by her children Tina Couvrette, Shelley Nowers, Sherilan Napieralski, and Kelly Harward. She was preceded in death by her husband Sherman Dean Harward, and her son, Sherman Dana Harward.

Viewing will be held Thursday August 31, 2017 from 11-12:00 noon at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 1007 West South Jordan Parkway, With a Graveside Service following at Riverton Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
