Obituary Sarah Dawn Snow Trop 1 October 1956 – 24 January 2026
Sarah was born in Provo, Utah to Angeline Anne Greaves Snow and Edward Donald Snow, who coached at BY High. Sarah was named after her maternal grandmother Sarah Smith Greaves and, following Greek tradition, given the feminine form of her father's name as her middle name. In the December 1959, the family moved to Granger, Utah when her father Don began coaching at Granger High School.
Sarah's warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. She was triple Granger High School Valedictorian with dear lifelong friends Marnae Silcox Gerszewski and Lis Davis Green. She attended BYU on a Presidential Scholarship and received a double major in Italian and Humanities with Art History emphasis. Sarah loved the arts and beautiful things of life. She played and performed on the violin as a member of the Granite Youth Symphony, BYU Symphony Orchestra, and in many musicals.
Sarah met her sweetheart Dennis Gerald Trop dancing at the Collector in Salt Lake City in 1985. After a beautiful courtship, they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on 25 March 1987. Their family was blessed with their beloved son, Dennis Alexander Trop, born 1 August 1991. After experiencing multiple miscarriages, Sarah was constantly grateful for Alex and devoted herself completely to being his mother. She loved volunteering in his activities from elementary school through Bingham High School Theatre, to Brigham Young University Theatre, never missing an opportunity to support and attend her son's theater performances. Sarah cherished traveling with her family, especially to Italy, Germany, Paris, and London, where Alex studied abroad. The islands of Hawaii were the family’s happy place and especially with the trips during Sarah's cancer journey creating precious memories.
Sarah had deep faith in her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ as a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In 1977, she served a mission to the Italy Padova Mission. She gave 25 years of service in Primary, 25 years in Young Women, and served in Relief Society, Young Single Adults, as a hymn conductor, and in various other callings. Sarah especially cherished her experiences and friendships within the Young Women and Girl’s Camps. Her faith and testimony sustained her through life's trials, and her graceful example of facing obstacles with faith inspires all who knew her. Sarah had a passion for Genealogy and Temple work and spent countless hours working on innumerable records of her Greek ancestry and her husband’s German and Slovak ancestry.
Sarah was a hard worker who brought her sweet spirit to every endeavor, whether within her home or in her employment at TWA Services (Grand Canyon North Rim, AZ), Stayton Cannery (Portland, OR—where she lived with dear Uncle Eldon & Aunt Ruth Greaves and their five sons who became like brothers to her), as Utah State Senatorial Page, Bilingual Secretary at Bonneville Media Communications, OC Tanner Company, the Mission Training Center teaching Italian, Modern Display, and as a Brokerage Trader with Fidelity Investments.
Cisco holds a special place in the family's heart, as both Dennis and Alex are employed there. The family extends deep appreciation to the Cisco family, friends, and cancer support programs. Special thanks to Oncologist Sandra Buys and her team at Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Sarah treasured her many lifelong friendships from school years, as a young newlywed, and from every place she lived. Her genuine kindness made everyone feel valued and loved.
Sarah is survived by her husband Dennis Trop, son Alexander Trop, her siblings Edward Snow (Eileen), Cherie Campbell (Colin), Randall Snow (Ronda), Wanda Frost (Sean), brother-in-law Don Trop (Kim), and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sarah courageously faced Metastatic Breast Cancer, Thyroid Cancer, Hypoparathyroidism, Fibromyalgia, POTS, and ME/CFS, participating in many clinical trials for these conditions.
