Scot Mullen Obituary (1957 - 2021)

Scot passed away peacefully at his home, with his loving daughter and husband at his side. He was born to Russell D. Mullen and Beverly Maxine Cox Mullen, in Murray, Utah, (where he worked, lived and played), the middle of three boys. His dad owned the car lot Motor City Inc., which he and his two brothers continued on for years. He graduated from Murray High School, and spent the majority of his time while there playing the guitar, which he loved. He played all his life and passed that passion down to his daughter, Caitlin. He also enjoyed racing stock cars, he ran as #27, at Bonneville and Suntana Raceway. In 1990, he won Rookie of Year, Sportsman of the Year, and Late Model division championship. He married Belinda Goodrich (later divorced) and took her daughter, Kristen, as his own. In 1991, they added Caitlin to the family. On September 24, 2014, Scot and Jay McLeod were quietly married in South Lake Tahoe, California, by a lady in denim and sneakers. Just before this county clerk read the vows, she impishly advised them to “lock the door” of the registrar’s office so that the ceremony would not be interrupted. Over the years, they enjoyed trail biking and traveling, one of their favorite places being Hawaii. Scot always had a quick wit, keeping those around him laughing and smiling. One of Kristen and Caitlin’s favorite memories is asking Scot if they could go get a shake. He replied with, “How about just a little tremble?” He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his husband, Ivan Jay McLeod; daughters: Caitlin Lee Mullen and Kristen Garcia (Dustin); brothers Randy Russell (Nancy) Mullen, David William (Brandie) Mullen; 5 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family has requested no flowers. In lieu of flowers, a bank account will be set up for those who may wish to assist the family with the burial arrangements. There will be a graveside memorial service on December 23rd 11:00 a.m. at Murray City Cemetery (5490 S. Vine Street Murray, UT). After the service, a celebration of his life will be held at “The Royal” (4760 South 900 East, Murray, UT) until around 2 p.m.
