Sean Christian Burbidge (Horton) Obituary (1970 - 2008)

Our beautiful son, Sean, departed this life on September 19, 2008, to embark on a new journey, leaving those of us behind to deeply mourn our loss. Sean was born August 23, 1970, in McAllen, Texas, to Gary and Susan Burbidge. He was married to Teresa Crown and later divorced. His parents, Susan and Dennis Horton, and Gary and Linda Burbidge, stepbrothers Neil Horton and Mike Smith, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins survive him. Stepbrother Marlo Horton preceded him in death. He also reluctantly left behind his beloved and faithful companion, Kitka, amazing border collie, who misses him deeply. Sean attended Hillcrest High School and SLCC. When medically able, he was employed in the computer industry. He had many hopes and aspirations, perhaps to be a veterinarian tech, which will now be unfulfilled. He suffered major medical problems for many years, and rarely complained. He stole the hearts of doctors and nurses alike. His was a fragile body but a powerful spirit, and in the end, his body could fight no more. He is finally free from the medical demons he fought so hard and so long to conquer. A special thanks is extended to Dr. LeGrand Belnap, whose genius in the O.R. saved Sean three times, and to Dr. Holly Clark, who went the extra mile for Sean. We also extend thanks to the doctors, nurses, and radiology staffs at St. mark’s Hospital (in particular Ed Hunter), as well as the wound care clinic at LDS Hospital. We are grateful to the doctors and nurses at IMC, the liver transplant team doctors, and Teresa, Amy. A special thanks to Deanne of the palliative care team and to their harpist whose music soothed Sean. We especially thank Louise Bezdjin, who walked with us all the way on the final leg of Sean’s journey. Services celebrating Sean’s life will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah. There will be viewing on Wednesday, September 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with viewing on Thursday at 1:00 p.m., and funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Murray City Cemetery.
