Sharon Pendleton Remund, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 9, 2024. She was born December 6, 1937 to Murlin Rhead and Edith Williams Pendleton in Murray, Utah. Sharon had a happy childhood and loved to spend time with her two sisters and three brothers at their Taylorsville home. Sharon graduated from Granite High School and went on to attend Brigham Young University. She worked at various jobs out of high school including as secretary to Elder Sterling W. Sill, Assistant to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Sharon was an amazing secretary able to type at over 140 words per minute. Sharon met a tall and handsome blonde guy named Ray Remund through her sister. He regularly attended church with Sharon sitting at the front of the chapel as she played the organ. Sharon married her “sweetie” Ray on June 30, 1960 in the Salt Lake Temple. They celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage before Ray’s passing in March of 2021. Sharon worked other jobs to help support her family including crossing guard, secretary in the Bingham High School copy center, and as pay-roll supervisor for CES at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City. Early in their marriage Sharon often assisted Ray in his duties as Game Warden by going into the field to help him band ducks and count deer. But her favorite job was wife and mother. When children arrived, Sharon found her joy. She loved children, especially babies. They had eight children who are her “pride and joy”. All seven sons achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and served full-time missions for the Church. All eight of her children were married in the temple. She was also a little “banty rooster” - a fierce defender of her children, especially of her only daughter. Sharon went to hundreds of baseball, football and basketball games, drill team events, and Cub and Boy Scout functions. She was a regular and often vocal presence on the sidelines or in the stands. She continued that with her grandchildren, always supporting and cheering. With a family of ten she knew how to cook for a crowd. Sunday dinners of rabbit, potatoes and gravy was a staple. Swedish pancakes, spaghetti, goulash and her amazing banana cream pie were family favorites. Sharon loved to serve the Lord, serving in many callings in the Church. After Ray’s retirement, Ray and Sharon served a Church mission together at the Conference Center and Joseph Smith Memorial Building and enjoyed their interactions with visitors from around the world. They also served for many years as ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Celeste (Stephen), seven sons, Lance (Heather), Brett (Kelly), Kirk (Kae), Craig (Ketra), Quinn (Allison), Bruce (Rachael), Todd (Kristin), sister June and brother Mark. Their joy is embodied not only in their 8 children but also in their 38 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Sharon truly was the heart of our family “home”, and she will be missed by all.
