She graduated from Murray High School in 1978 and entered the University of Utah to study English and music, graduating in 1985. She served in the Switzerland Zürich LDS Mission from 1982-1983. \r\n\r\nAfter graduating from the U she attended law school at Brigham Young University, finishing in 1988. She practiced law in California and there met her husband Dan Bolton. They were married August 14, 1991 in the Salt Lake Temple.\r\n\r\nShauna and Dan lived in five states: California, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Washington. After several years practicing law, Shauna became a high school teacher of English and humanities. She found great fulfillment in teaching and was recognized as a National Board Certified teacher.\r\n\r\nShauna’s life as a musician began with piano lessons when she was six years old. In college she accompanied the choir at the Salt Lake Institute of Religion and began to compose music as well as perform. Throughout her life, Shauna was a sought-after performer, teacher, coach, composer, and arranger. Her students ranged in age from preschool children to one who began lessons in her 90s. \r\n\r\nIn 2007 Shauna was diagnosed with a rare lung disease called pulmonary hypertension. Her physicians eventually recommended a lung transplant, and she had both lungs replaced in 2010. \r\n\r\nAfter the transplant, Shauna focused on music and other favorite pursuits: gardening, quilting, writing poetry and memoirs, and study of the Japanese language and culture. She acted as a mentor in the University of Utah’s transplant program and assisted the hospital chaplain in providing spiritual care for patients and families. She offered the benefits of her experiences and insights to family and friends, striving to support them in their challenges, triumphs, and everyday lives.\r\n\r\nIn a letter to the family of her lung donor, Shauna said:\r\nI know that life is brief, that my remaining time is short, that one day these new lungs will fail. I have faced death before, and so I am not afraid.\r\nWhen my time comes, I shall go peacefully, knowing that I have lived a full life, doing good for others, loving and being loved.\r\n\r\nShauna is survived by her husband, Dan Bolton; her parents, Gail and Patricia Hansen; sisters and brother, Cyndi Hansen, Mark Hansen (Gina), Kathy Hansen, Susan Condie (Kent), Becky Gray (Jeffrey), and Paula Isaacson (Ray); and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.\r\n\r\nA viewing will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral at 11:00 a.m. Both events will occur at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Murray Utah Little Cottonwood Stake Center, 6180 South Glen Oaks Street, Murray, Utah. Shauna will be interred at Elysian Burial Gardens in Millcreek.
