Sheila Young Shupe

–

South Jordan, UT

Our loving wife, mother and friend, Sheila Shupe was called home on May 8, 2006 after a sudden illness.

Sheila was born on February 22, 1961, in Salt Lake City to Parley Richard Young and Barbara Jane Thornwall. Sheila attended Skyline and Cottonwood High. She married her best friend and true love, Derek Richard Shupe, on September 18, 1982. They became an eternal family when they were sealed in the Jordan River Temple on March 25, 1995.

Sheila thrived on being a caring and nurturing wife and mother to her husband and three children. Sheila truly loved and cared for all around her. She had a strong and enduring testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and strived to live it more fully each day. She served diligently and faithfully in many Ward and Stake callings. Genuine, compassionate service to others brought great joy to her life. She recently certified as a lifeguard, swimming and water aerobics instructor to freely teach those skills to others.

Sheila is survived by her husband Derek; children Christopher, Hailey, and Tyson; stepmother JoeLeen Young; brothers Randy (Cheryl), Sandy, and Scott (Debra), West Jordan; and a niece and four nephews. Her father and mother precede her in death.

The family extends their love and appreciation to the South Jordan Fire Department and the doctors, nurses and staff of the Jordan Valley Hospital ER and ICU for their extraordinarily compassionate and professional care.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday May 13, 2006, at South Jordan Parkway Stake Center 9894 South 2700 West. Friends and family may call Friday, May 12, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Jenkins-Soffe South Valley 1007 West South Jordan Parkway (10600 S.) and one hour prior to the funeral service at the Stake Center. Interment: South Jordan City Cemetery.
