Dan Street Obituary (1951 - 2013)

Dan Street On Sunday February 24, 2013, after a courageous battle over coming a lengthy illness, Dan finally had enough and decided it was time to go fishing. Born June 15, 1951 in Park City, UT to Wallace Street and Ella Mildred Barker-Street, Dan was one of 12 siblings. When he was young, his family moved to Murray City, UT where he eventually graduated from high school. As a young man fashioned of the 50's, he was a slicked back greaser that enjoyed fast cars and motorcycles. In 1984, he met and married the love of his life, JoAnn Mazurie. Inseparable for the next 28 years, together they travelled to Alaska, Mexico, Nevada and many other beautiful places to fish, go boating, camping in their 5th wheel, casino hop (loved Buffalo!) and simply enjoy the company of one another in faraway places. Dan loved the serenity of his home and spent much of his down time tinkering in his garage and manicuring his garden. Dan was a hands-on, hardworking man. He had the gift of being able to fix anything and often fixed things that didn't necessarily need to be fixed. He had one speed; open throttle! Admired by his peers for his relentless work ethic, attention to detail and brutal honesty. He was always on and was always available to be counted on. When the job had to get done and there was a fast approaching deadline that is when he truly shined. When not working or travelling, Dan loved to be home with his wife. He was so proud of her cooking that together they made bar-b-que ribs, deep fried turkey, and thick juicy steaks, enough for a small army. He was proud of their gardening as well, especially their tomato plants. When you left his home, you were always handed a bag of home grown veggies and other massive amounts of goodies However, none of these passions came close to the love and admiration he had for his 5 grandchildren. They were and always will be the fire that kept him moving forward and living his life all out. He enjoyed watching them play baseball, dancing, and laughing. He was so proud of his grandchildren and they will forever know that their grandfather loved them so very much. He lived for their smiles. Dan's family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, UT, as well as the doctors and staff at Dixie Hospital in St. George, UT. Together, these two exceptional facilities treated Dan with respect, compassion and dignity. We appreciate all that they did to assist him in battling his illness and making him comfortable until the end. Funeral services will be Friday March 1 at 11 am at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary in South Jordan, UT, 1007 West South Jordan Pkwy (10600 South). Viewing and visitation will be Thursday February 28, between 6-8 pm and Friday March 1 from 10-11am. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial, 3115 E. 7800 S.
