Shirlee P. Charon Obituary (1934 - 2011)

On a beautiful sunny morning, May 21st, 2011, our beloved sweetheart, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother took her last breath and peacefully left the confinement of a body ravished and weakened for years from multiple sclerosis.Born February 5, 1934 to Dale and Grace Proctor, Shirlee grew up in Salt Lake City graduating from East High School in 1952. At an early age, she developed a true love of reading, which allowed her to escape, at times, from a very challenging childhood.While working for First Security Bank, she met and married the love of her life, Harold Burrows Charon on October 23, 1954. They adored one another and showed each other what true love was all about.Shirlee loved shopping, playing bridge, reading, Christmas decorating, and discussing politics. But her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.She is survived by her sweetheart, Hal; three children, Brad (Kathleen), Cindy (Lindy) Johnston, and Cary (Zach); seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents and her only sibling, Richard.In honor of Shirlee, a gathering will be held at 6180 S. Glenoaks, St., Murray, UT on Saturday, May 28, 2011 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon.“I’m so glad we had this time together, just to have a laugh or sing a song. Seems we just get started and before you know it, comes the time we have to say, so long.”
