Shirley Ann Yenglin-Wright passed away peacefully surrounded by family the afternoon of June 1st. She fought a long 7-year battle with Kidney disease.
Born January 8, 1933 in Bartley Nebraska to Floyd Emmett Wight and Velma Etta Rowe.
Both Shirley and her father worked for the phone company. She would tell stories to her grandchildren about having a switchboard in her home that her family operated while she was growing up in Nebraska. During WWII her family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. They moved because of living in the dust bowl, and jobs that paid well were hard to find. Her father later worked at an ammo depot during the war.
Shirley continued to work for the phone company in Price, Utah and later retired in Salt Lake City. Her daughter Judy also worked for the phone company. Three generations worked for the phone company that spanned over 70 years.
Shirley was an active member of DAV Auxiliary and served as a State Commander. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had many callings within the church and worked as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple for two and a half years.
She is preceded in death by two husbands, Donald H. Yenglin and Kenneth B. Wright; one daughter, Judy Belka Allison; and one grandchild, Eric “Boots” Yenglin. She is survived by seven step-children: Don Yenglin (Karen) Colorado, Dyana Fountain (Dyght ) Texas, Blake Wright (Wendi) Riverton, Robert Wright West Valley, Jean Wright Murray, Catherine Higginsen Illinois, and David Wright (Susan) Arizona; 29 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
