Click HERE to view Funeral Services for Sione Tautua'a Kavapalu \r\n\r\nSione Tautua’a Kavapalu (Poko) passed away in Taylorsville, UT on February 9, 2021. \r\n\r\nHe was born in Kolomotu’a, Tonga. He attended GPS Kolomotu’a and went on to Toloa College and later Liahona High School. He was fortunate to attend post secondary training in Animal Husbandry and Agriculture in Australia and later attended Brigham Young University-Hawaii. \r\n\r\nTautua’a proudly served the Tonga Defense Service for three years. He then began a Teaching career with the LDS Church Schools in Tonga. He taught at several Middle Schools and later at Liahona High School. He was passionate about his faith, his students, his extended family and his community. He will be remembered for the smile he always greeted you with. Tautua’a is loved by many and will be missed. \r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his sisters Suli Kavapalu and Lupe Falekaono, brothers Tevita Kavapalu and Tali Kavapalu, his son Vikatoa Kavapalu and his parents Mele Vavahe’a and Tevita Ofa ki Saione Kavapalu. Besides his wife Olivia Koloi Kavapalu, Tautuaa is survived by his three sons Ofa-ki-Saione (Kathy), Taniela Oli-Teni (Johnniise), Tuliakiono (‘Atu), and daughters Losaline Kavapalu and Lesieli Dexter (Bob), and 14 grandchildren in Utah, Wyoming and Hawaii. He is also survived by his sisters Matelita Morgan (Basil), Mele Makelesi Facci (Morrie), his brothers Eneasi (Cheryl), Tofi’a (‘Alo’i) and Tangata ‘o Lakepa (Pauline), and a host of nieces and nephews in the US, Australia and Tonga.\r\n\r\nA viewing will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 8am -11:30am at the LDS Chapel, 4660 W 5015 S, Kearns, UT. A memorial service will follow from 12noon to 1pm and Burial will be at the Memorial Redwood Cemetery, Taylorsville, UT. \r\n\r\nWe ask that if you are planning to attend Tautuaa’s Viewing and/or Memorial service, please be mindful of current COVID precautions; social distance with non-immediate family members and consider wearing a Mask.
