S. William (Bill) Stoker Obituary (1925 - 2010)

S. William (Bill) Stoker was reunited with his beloved wife Betty on April 3, 2010. Bill passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 84. He was born Nov. 3, 1925 to Vera Anderson and Sterling Wilson Stoker.He spent his first 11 years in Wallsburg, UT. The family moved to Midvale, UT where he graduated from Jordan High School. Bill then served for his country in WWII. He married his high-school sweetheart Betty Jean Miller in the Salt Lake Temple on Oct. 8 1943. Together they had eight children: Richard, Shauna Platt (John), Randy, Mike (Teri), Kris Paskins (Terry Burnham), Deb Cline (Terry), Kathy Grundy (Stan) and Lisa Hardman (Danny).Bill worked long and hard to provide for his family and taught his children the value of hard work. He was a man of honesty and great integrity. He didn’t tell us how to live; he lived and let us watch him do it. He taught us not only by his words, but through his example.He was an active member of the LDS church and loved going to the temple each week. He loved the game of golf and you could always find him on the links looking for his ball. Throughout his life he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and any activity that gathered his family together. He never missed watching his grandchildren play ball or perform.Bill is survived by his children, 33 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren, his sister Dawn Woodhouse and his golf buddies Bing and Vern. Preceded in death by his wife, grandchildren April, Nathan, Jamie and great granddaughter Alexis.Funeral services will be held Friday, April 9, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Cedar Point Ward Chapel, 5562 W. 13680 S. Riverton. A viewing will be held Thursday evening, April 8th from 6-8 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S.) and on Friday at the church, from 10:00 – 10:45 am prior to services.Anyone can be a Father; it takes someone special to be a Dad.We’re grateful and proud to have called you Dad!
