STEVE LOUIS VALDEZ

May 10, 1952 – July 25, 2015
Our father, husband, brother, Uncle "Beaver" and friend passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2015, he was 63 years old.
Steve was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Thomas Rudolph Valdez and Elizabeth Silva Valdez who preceded him in death. His sister, Elizabeth also preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Martinez and stepson, Joseph. He also is survived by his sons, Jesse and Eddie from his wife, Loretta Velarde; and his son, Steve from his wife, Janet Sanchez. He is survived by his siblings, Martha, Delores, Gloria, Patrick, Danny, and Thomas.
Steve worked for many years at Artistic Printing Company in Salt Lake City, Utah. More recently he was employed at DAS Distribution Center where he made many friends and was well liked by his co-workers. Steve was a hard worker his entire life and was always a good provider to his family. Outside of work, he enjoyed working on cars, going fishing, playing his guitars, riding his bikes, cooking, and was always ready to take on any household project big or small. He enjoyed gambling in his free time and shopping at the local thrift stores searching for the next great find he could turn into a project. He also loved his steadily growing collection of watches and had a sweet tooth often for candy bars, chocolates and never would pass up a piece of birthday cake.
Steve had a great personality and was easily able to connect with anyone he met. He was always smiling, making a joke, and his laughter was infectious. Anyone that met him could not help but like him and want to be his friend. He was always willing to help others and give freely of himself because that's just the kind of person he was. He will always be remembered as being an excellent father to his stepson, Joseph as well as to all of his sons. His death will leave a void in the hearts of all that had the chance to know and love him.
A Memorial service will be held in his honor on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary located at 4760 South State Street in Murray, Utah. Family and friends are invited to visit and share memories of Steve between the hours of 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. and a memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Flowers may be sent directly to the mortuary. Alternately, in lieu of flowers, donations can also be made to the Steve Louis Valdez Memorial Fund at any America First Credit Union branch to support the family with expenses.
