Stuart Remington Obituary (1952 - 2023)

Stuart Alan Remington, a Utah native and lifelong musician, born in 1952, died peacefully at his home Tuesday 1/17/23 at the age of 70. He began drumming in elementary school, and went on to drum in the Olympus High School marching band and stage band, as well as a rock band. He loved racing slot cars, and building and painting models. He talked on the phone too much and when reprimanded, wired a phone into his bedroom. He graduated from high school in 1971. He enjoyed sailing the family Hobie Cat and playing tennis when not working at Shutter Bug Photo. Stu moved to Denver for a year following high school. He then attended the University of Utah for a brief time, living with good friends. Then on to California. Finding that he had an aptitude for electrical engineering, he attended a sound technology and recording school in Los Angeles. He worked on corporate communication systems, as a studio musician, and played in a band, while living in Silverado Canyon. The musical bands he has been part of over the years are numerous. A few were Soapstone Mountain, QuikSand, Scooter, the Buskers, the Rhythm Rockers, and the Neighbors. He wrote and recorded several original songs. In 1999 Stu moved back to Salt Lake City to be closer to family. He worked at AudioWorks, installing custom sound systems. During this time he drummed and sang with the Neighbors. He had a niche business renovating tube amps and shipping them nationally and internationally. He played tennis with his dad most weekends. Survived by his mother, brother, two sisters, two nieces, and two nephews. He will be remembered for his drumming finesse, dry sense of humor, big heart, gentle soul and as a straight shooter.
