Salt Lake City, Utah
Susan Kae Barlocker was born August 24, 1962 in Murray, Utah to Dennis and LouDeene Barlocker. Growing up, her family moved often, living in Nevada, Colorado, Iowa, and Nebraska, before returning to Utah. In high school, she made the cheerleading team and went on to graduate from Murray High.
Susan was introduced to Theo Lynn Ellis by her brother in the late summer of 1980 before she went away to college at Utah State University. Lynn would visit Susan at school, where they fell in love. Lynn and Susan were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on February 25, 1982. They had six children and eventually settled down in Taylorsville, Utah.
Susan thrived in motherhood and loved her children fiercely. She was feral in the protection of her family, and struck fear in the hearts of school principals. She could not be constrained by societal norms. Lynn and Susan built and cultivated a welcoming home where you’d often find teenagers raiding the fridge and having movie nights.
She enjoyed her career as a human resource professional at UPS, often working late nights or early mornings to ensure she could be there for her family during the day.
Susan had a sharp wit and sense of humor. She never wanted to be the center of attention, but always had a humorous comment to add to conversations. She was a favorite Gospel Doctrine teacher, known for bribing attendees to participate by throwing out candy. She was a beloved church leader at youth camps and conferences because of her fun ideas and entertaining antics.
Susan passed away peacefully at home on September 24, 2026, spending her last days surrounded by her husband and children.
Susan is preceded in death by her mother, LouDeene; brother, Shawn; and sister, Karen. She is survived by her husband, Lynn; children, Chris (Karen), Sydney “CeCe” (Isaac Boyack), Mike (Teresa), Andrew (Julie), Stacia (Philip Carron), Cheyenne (Esteban Aguilera); 16 beautiful grandchildren; father, A. Dennis; and siblings Brad, Brian, Allison, Blake, Marsha, and Robyn.
Susan’s family would like to thank True North Home Health and Hospice, specifically Lori and Isabella, for the excellent care they provided to Susan.
