Taryn Elizabeth Gurney Obituary (1995 - 2014)

Our sweet and beautiful daughter Taryn Elizabeth Gurney returned to her Savior's arms on September 22nd, 2014 from injuries sustained in a tragic car accident. She was born in Fresno California on March 30, 1995. After her mom divorced in 1997, she and her mother braved life together until 2005 when her mom married her new dad. She adored her new brothers Carter and Garrison as they came into her life in 2007 and 2010. She loved playing with her brothers and making them laugh and smile. She was a loyal and thoughtful friend. She loved to read, laugh and had a sharp memory quoting funny movie lines. She was excited to finally be adopted by her 'new daddy' when she was 15. She attended Bingham High School in South Jordan Utah where she played the flute and worked hard to be in the marching band which became the love of her life. For her Senior year, she attended Hebron High School in Carrollton, Texas while living with her Uncle Charlie and Aunt Carolyn. Her friendly, kind, honest and easy going nature attracted friends wherever she went. She recently started school at Snow College, which quickly became the happiest time of her life, majoring in teaching English as a Second Language so she could live her dreams of helping others and traveling. Taryn's sparkling and energetic personality touched the lives of many people and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Taryn chose to donate her organs to bring life to others. She is survived by her mother Kate, father Gary, sweet brothers Carter and Garrison, and sister Amy Wood, nephew Keaton. Grandparents Earl and Fran Mathews, Boyd and Judy Gurney and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
