Terry Allen Seyler was born December 31, 1957 in Dunkirk, New York to Jane and Robert Seyler. He passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2017. Terry was an avid outdoorsman. As a child he enjoyed sports including baseball, football, and skiing. Terry attended RIT and ultimately obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Houston where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Terry eventually obtained several engineering patents and finally settled into a long and successful career as a software engineer. Terry is survived by his wife Phyllis, his sister Janis and brother Jeff (Blanche), his two children Eric (Stephanie) and Megan, two step-daughters Deann and Felisha (Dave), his many beloved grandchildren and his brothers-in-law and close friends Brian and Von. Along with spending time with his large family he was a dedicated Utah Utes fan and season ticket holder, and never missed an opportunity to be at a home game tailgating with his fellow “posse”. Terry loved to travel coast to coast with his wife and dog Jax “Wolfgang” in their Coach. Among his many hobbies were playing poker at a high level, brewing award-winning beer and creative writing projects in collaboration with his son (Eric). He had an eclectic library of music and loved finding new artists and genres. If there were adventures to be found, he would find them, if there were passions to pursue, he pursued them, if there were stories to be told, he told them, and if there was knowledge to be gained, he would gain it. Terry’s passion for life was evident to anyone who spent time with him. His influence will be felt for many generations, and he will be loved and missed by all the lives that he touched. Terry and Phyllis attended Christian Life Center in West Valley City. A remembrance celebration will be held in Westfield, New York at the Annual Ox Roast in July 2018. We love you Terry.
A celebration of Terry’s life will be held at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S), South Jordan, Utah 84095.
