Theodore Dean Thomas Obituary (1927 - 2013)

Theodore Dean Thomas, 86, passed away October 8, 2013 in the VA Care Center from a long-time illness. He was born July 29, 1927 in Vernal, Utah to Lloyd Lester and Mary Alice McKee Thomas. He grew up in Oakland, California until his service in World War II. He married Shirley Oakeson on September 26, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He loved his farm. He loved hunting, fishing, and traveling. He especially loved his wife and family. He served numerous callings in the church. He especially enjoyed serving eight years as ward clerk in the South Jordan 2nd Ward. He was a great provider for his family, sometimes working three jobs at a time. He was a union carpenter for 30 years, working his way up to General Superintendent, traveling across the country from job site to job site. He is survived by his wife Shirley, two sons Robert Dean (Sandra) and Mark O. (Annette) and four daughters Kaye (Danny) Hofheins, Jan (Wayne) Heilmann, Julie (Kim) Cummings, and Kelli (Ralph) Trimble, 19 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers, Lee, Bud, and Ron, and his grandson Joshua Thomas. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 12, 2013, at 2:30 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 South), South Jordan, Utah.
