Thomas Boyd Edman (Big T) passed away on May 25, 2023 surrounded by his family. Tom was born on February 6, 1948 to Wilford and Erma Edman in Salt Lake City, Utah. \n\nHe graduated from Olympus High School in 1966 and then attended LDS Business College. Following High School Tom served his country as part of the Army Reserves, he loved his time in the Reserves and served as an Army medic. Tom loved to tell stories about his time in the military. In 1969 while attending LDS Business College he met his eternal companion, Marlene Gormley. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in August of 1970. Spending almost 53 years together they have six children, nine grandchildren and one great grandson. \n\nAn avid fan of the University of Utah Tom could regularly be seen at their football games and gymnastics meets. Family was Tom’s greatest accomplishment. There wasn’t a thing he wouldn’t do for his wife or children.\n\nTom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings throughout his life including High Priest Group Leader, Counselor in the Bishopric, Stake High Councilor and his most recent calling as a service missionary at the Church Employment Center. His favorite calling was in Scouting in which he dedicated more than 20 years of his life to the Youth. \n\nTom is survived by his wife Marlene, children Dale (Sydnee) Edman, Cindy (Quent) Bradwisch, Nicole (Steve) Simmons, Joe (Joy) Edman, Jim (Melissa) Edman, Rick (Ashley) Edman, two sisters, Renae (Bob) Park and Diane Locher. His brother, Brent Edman, sister-in-law Marilyn Edman and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Marv and Dale Edman and sister Sharla Edman, brother-in-law Craig Locher and sister-in-law Kay Edman.\n\nA viewing will be held on Thursday, June 1 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan UT, 84095. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 2 at 11:00 am at the West Jordan River 7th ward, 7380 S 1300 W. with a viewing from 9:30 - 10:30 am.
