Varol Shaw Obituary (1941 - 2023)

Our brother, Varol Edward Shaw, age 81 passed away peacefully on February 23, 2023, incident to old age, at the Avalon West Care Center in Taylorsville, Utah. He was born June 10, 1941 in Murray,Utah. He graduated from Berkeley High School, Berkeley, California, and attended Brigham Young University. He served in the North Mexican Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also served in the United States Army. He loved music and was an accomplished trumpet player. Preceded in death by parents, Merlin John and Mildred Ottley Shaw, and also Jack L. Birch, brother-in-law. Survived by siblings, Heidi S. Birch of Saratoga Springs, UT, Merlene S. Bybee (Lynn) of South Ogden, UT, David Shaw of Orem, UT, George G. Shaw (Lorna) of Saratoga Springs, UT, Irene S. Casper (Don) of Evanston, WY, and many nieces and nephews. Married Nanette Holladay, later divorced. He had a fervent testimony of his Savior and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Avalon West Care Center for their many years of service to our brother. Interment will be at Sandy City Cemetery, Sandy, Utah, with a special family memorial service to be announced.
