Vaun Eldon Harrison Obituary (1933 - 2019)

Vaun Eldon Harrison passed away September 20, 2019, surrounded by his wife Ruthal and many of his children. Vaun was born on July 31, 1933 to Herbert Blair Harrison and Alta Leona Kemp. He grew up in Lewiston Utah, in a close, loving home with two sisters and two brothers, one of whom was his identical twin. He graduated from North Cache High School where he competed in track and debate. He married his sweetheart Darlene Udy on December 13, 1951. During the next few years, he took many electronics technician courses which started his career in electronics. He worked in this field for several companies including Thiokol, Hewlett Packard and 3M. Using this background in electronics and his passion for music, he and his twin brother Val developed what they called the HUSH (Harmonics Union Sub Harmonics) organ which plays in perfect harmony. They enjoyed and worked together on this project for over 50 years. He also enjoyed singing, playing the piano, guitar, steel guitar and organ. He spent a lifetime in church service as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed many callings including Scout Master, Ward Chorister, Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher, Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group leader, High Counselor, Home Teacher and Ministering Leader for many of the residents at Legacy House. He is survived by his wife Ruthal Harrison, his children Steven (MaryAnn) Harrison, Randy (Pam) Harrison, Pamela (Richard) Blum, Dennis (Jan) Harrison and Janet (Rhone) Udell, 24 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Blair Harrison and Val Harrison and his sister Joyce Nelson. Vaun was preceded in death by his wife Darlene Udy Harrison, parents Herbert and Alta Harrison, daughter-in-law Susan Warnick Harrison and his sister Leona Lundstrom. A viewing will be held Thursday, September 26 at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 West South Jordan Parkway (10600 South) in South Jordan, Utah from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. and on Friday from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. prior to the funeral service at the church. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 4845 South Woodhaven Drive (1365 West) Taylorsville, Utah.
