Velma Karen Coburn, known fondly through out her life as Karen, passed away March 22, 2018. She was born April 27, 1950 in Salt Lake City to Odell and Velma Christensen. She often mentioned how lucky she was to have such wonderful parents who gave her a very happy childhood. \r\n\r\nAt an early age Karen found her passion in dancing. She was a wonderful dancer and performed in many productions and theatres. She took that love and shared it with others. She taught dance and choreographed many local plays. \r\n\r\nKaren was a light, confidant, and friend to everyone. She made many lifetime friends and once you were her friend, you were forever her friend. She would often send funny cards in the mail or letters and had many phone calls with treasured friends. Karen had a gift to help others feel loved and special. She had a great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh. She used humor and her good nature to get her through difficult times.\r\n\r\nKaren had four children Danny (Kelly) Elder, Jami (Nancy) Elder, Katie (Austin) Ball, Nathan (Samantha) Elder, and was blessed later with an amazing daughter Tracy Jones, the daughter of the love of her life Dan Coburn. She also was lucky to get T.J Coburn and Shane Coburn as two bonus sons. She adored her 12 grandkids. Karen loved her family with all her heart. She had a special relationship with her Brother Bob and his wife Pat. We were all blessed to have Karen in our lives. She was a bright light that will be truly missed. \r\n\r\nKaren had loved ones waiting to welcome her to the other side. It must have been a joyful reunion with her parents, loving husband Dan, and best friend Dusty Taylor. Karen’s gift to love others and see the good in everything will be carried on by those who love her and have had the honor to know her. We will all carry the light and love she gave to us and she will live forever in our hearts.\r\n\r\nA memorial service will be held on Wednesday March 28th at 6:00 p.m. followed by an open house from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins and Soffe, 1007 S. Jordan Pkwy, South Jordan, Utah.
