Verne Nickerson Grimsley passed away at the age of 82 to join the love of his life, his wife of 59 years, Joane. A beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend.\r\nVerne grew up in Grantsville and Salt Lake City, Utah. He met Joan Frances Nelson, and they were married on October 25, 1958. Verne loved the outdoors and spent his honeymoon with Joane deer hunting. He enjoyed summers on the lake water skiing with his family and being a Scout Leader for his sons’ Boy Scout Troop. Mining is what he loved to do the most.\r\nIn 1977 they moved to California where Verne worked for Bar Fence Co. and then went to work for Bay Area Trailer Service as a truck driver. In 2007 they retired and moved to Murray, Utah until the passing of his wife, Joane, in 2013. He enjoyed his time with his daughter, Patti Rosales, his grandchildren, and family. He then moved to Livermore, CA where he spent the remainder of his days with his son, Charles, and his family.\r\nVerne is survived by his children: Pamela (Bill) Kenney; his sons, Daniel (Cathy) and Charles (Denise) Grimsley. He is also survived by his two brothers, Roger (Carolyn) and Allen Grimsley; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.\r\nInterment will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at West Jordan City Cemetery, 7800 South 1300 West, West Jordan, Utah.
