Vicki Ricks

–

Payson, Utah

Our dearly loved Vicki, age 69, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with liver disease. She was the mother of 4 children, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Vicki first married Carlos in 1971, and had a son, Sjon Pinto, who was born with microcephaly. He lived only 4 short years and passed away on September 10, 1974. She married Glenn Leo Smith on June 6th, 1974. Vicki gave birth to 3 more children; Tess Marie, Robert Glenn and Jenny Lee. They lived in Salt Lake City for a time and then decided to move their family to Washington. This is where Vicki went to school and became a veterinary assistant, which was one of her favorite jobs. Vicki and Glenn later divorced in September of 2002 and Vicki moved back to Salt Lake City where she spent the rest of her life. She spoke often of her time in Washington and how much she missed her family there.

She cherished being in the mountains. Vicki enjoyed camping and picnicking and never missed an opportunity for a drive to sit by the river or play games with her mom, sisters and friends. She has always been very “nature oriented”. She spent many hours collecting flowers, pinecones, rocks and anything she could from the outdoors to preserve in her acrylic resin projects. She made many beautiful, colorful objects to hang on the wall, light catchers, jewelry and other things. Vicki loved nature and anything sparkly.

Vicki loved her pets dearly and treated them like family. Giving up her dog, Lilly, was one of the hardest things she had to do as she moved into Assisted Living.

Vicki loved to laugh and had a smile for everyone. She easily made friends and they were truly the light of her life and what kept her going most days.

She is preceded in death by her son, Sjon Pinto; parents, Howard Lee and LaVerna Ricks; siblings, Shauna Lee Frazier and Darla Ann Bowden; nephews Troy Goodfellow and Bryant Frazier.

Vicki is survived by her children: Tess, Robert and Jenny Lee, and her grandchildren, Forest, Taleon, Luka, Saturnilla; great grandchild, Marleeah. Her ex-husband and dear friend, Glenn Smith, her sister Jaena (Brent) Gibson as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed.

We are grateful for her caregivers at Rocky Mountain Hospice and Parkway Nursing Facility.
