Violet June Nielson Poulsen

"Nana Vi"
Violet June Nielson Poulsen, our beloved mother, grandma and great grandma passed from this world peacefully after a brief illness March 7th 2010. Vi was born January 9, 1926 to David and Phoebe Nielson, the oldest of 4 children. She married Kenneth Poulsen on June 5th, 1950, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Vi graduated from Murray High. She earned her BS in Nursing at the U of U. She taught Nursing at Utah Technical College (S.L.C.C.) for 30 years. She was generous, loving and compassionate, always putting others needs above her own. Vi was a lifetime faithful member of the LDS church and served in many positions. She loved music, traveling and above all, her family.
She is survived by her children: Christine (Burke) Black, Elizabeth and Kirk (Bonnie), also brother Donald (Lila) Nielson, Six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Alta View Hospital med/surg. unit and hospice staff from Sunbrook, for their excellent care of our mother.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 12, 2010, at the Murray 23rd Ward (755 E Three Fountains Dr, Murray Utah) at 11:00 am. Friends and family may gather to celebrate her life on Thursday, March 11, 2010, from 6-8 pm at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary (4760 S State Street, Murray, Utah) or from 10-10:45 am at the church. Interment at the West Jordan City Cemetery immediately after the funeral.
