Willard LeRoy Park

–

Taylorsville, UT

8/28/1925 ~ 4/22/2014
Willard LeRoy Park, 88, the last surviving grandson of LDS Prophet Wilford Woodruff, passed away peacefully at home April 22, 2014 after complications from surgery. Born August 28, 1925, Granger, Utah, he is also the last surviving child of John Rueben Park and Julia Delight Stockings Woodruff Park. "Willie" has lived his whole life in the Salt Lake Valley in West Valley, Murray, and Taylorsville. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, married to Faye Schofield August 8, 1952, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. When Willie was young he loved to roller skate and in fact his first date with Faye was at S&M roller rink.
Willie retired from Morton Salt Company after 30 years of dedicated service. He had a deep love of baseball and basketball and could usually be found sitting in the kitchen in front of the TV watching any team play. When his grandchildren were in little league, he attended nearly every game. Willie loved to tell stories of his past to anyone that would listen, even total strangers. There wasn't any place in the valley that he didn't have a story for!
Survived by wife of over 62 years, Faye, Taylorsville, UT; sons, Scott, Holiday, Bob (Brenda), West Jordan; and daughter, Nancy Lippmann, Taylorsville. Preceded in death by son, Dennis; daughter-in-law, Susan (Scott); and son-in-law, David (Nancy). Also survived by seven grandsons, one granddaughter, five great grandsons and three great granddaughters.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 25, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1950 East, with viewings held Thursday, April 24th at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah from 6 – 8 pm, and from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.also at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary prior to Graveside services on Friday, April 25th.
