William Mumford

–

South Jordan, Utah

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, William “Bill” Mumford, on January 25, 2026, at the age of 67. He was born on June 1, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William Mumford and Irene Lipsey. Bill was a man whose life was defined by love — especially for his family, the outdoors, and the simple joys that brought people together.

Bill graduated from Bingham High School, where he excelled in baseball and football. He worked for 36 years at Salt Lake County Animal Services, where he later retired. Bill was good at everything he did — a true jack of all trades. He was our go-to person to fix anything.

Bill married the love of his life, Carrie Almond. He was a devoted and adoring husband whose greatest happiness was found beside his sweetheart. Their love was steady, deep, and full of partnership, laughter, and unwavering support. He cherished her every day, showing his love not just in words, but in the way he lived — with loyalty, kindness, and care. Carrie woke up to a fresh Diet Coke and a kiss on her cheek every morning.

As a father to Chelsea and Levi, he was a steady presence — a teacher, a coach, a protector, and a friend. He never missed an event and was often the loudest dad on the sidelines. He led by example, showing the value of hard work, integrity, and putting family first. Together, Bill and Carrie made sure their children knew their true worth and loved them unconditionally. His children were his proudest accomplishments, and he never stopped cheering them on.

His role as Grandpa was one he treasured deeply. His five grandchildren brought him endless joy. He loved being their personal chauffeur, making them laugh, hosting sleepovers, and spending endless hours in Grandpa’s pool. He was their biggest fan and provided the warmth that only a grandfather can give. To them, he was not just a grandpa, but a hero and a safe place.

Family meant everything to Bill, he shared a close and lasting bond with his extended family. Whether golfing, going on trips, or gathering for traditions, he loved being surrounded by the people he cared about most. His famous Father’s Day BBQ was an event everyone looked forward to, filled with good food, laughter, and time together. Mornings at Bear Lake were unforgettable thanks to his spectacular breakfasts, made with love and meant to bring everyone to the table. He loved playing board games with the family, and he almost always won every game — Mexican Train will never be the same.

He had a true love for the outdoors and felt most at peace surrounded by nature — especially at Bear Lake, where he spent summers with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Whether enjoying the quiet beauty of the water or watching sunsets on the porch with his wife, hand in hand, those moments filled his heart.

Bill took great pride in his yard, keeping it immaculate. It was a showstopper, he loved sharing his beautiful backyard pool with family and friends.

Bill loved golf, and after retiring, he found his dream job at The Ridge Golf Club, which quickly became his second home and an extended family. It was a place where he could spend his days doing what he loved most while connecting with friends and loved ones. Being there brought him so much joy, and his golf game had never been better.

He will be remembered for his gentle strength, his deep love of family, his steady presence, and the way he made people feel welcomed and valued. His legacy lives on in the family he adored and in the many lives he touched with his kindness and warmth. His selfless service to family, friends, and anyone in need is an example to us all. We are comforted knowing he left no kind word or good deed undone. Bill never missed an opportunity to say, “I love you.” Please tell someone you love them every day. Though he is deeply missed, his love will remain in our hearts forever.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carrie; his beloved children, Chelsea (Jonny Cuff) and Levi (Sydney Vance); his cherished grandchildren, Owen, Briggs, Sawyer, Adrian, and Kinsley; and all who were blessed to know him. Preceded in death by his parents: William and Irene Mumford and his sister Vicky.

A private viewing will be held Friday. A Celebration of Life for all who knew and loved Bill will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at The Ridge Golf Club, 5055 South Westbridge Blvd, West Valley, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
