Billy Oakden passed away, at his home in West Jordan, UT on April 23, 2022. He was 64 years old. He was born June 16, 1957 in Cedar City, UT to Richard Roy Oakden and Betty June Pryor Oakden.
Billy attended Beaver High School is Beaver, UT class of ’75, where he excelled in track and football. Some say he could’ve been one of the greatest football players to come out of BHS. He started his career with Union Pacific Railroad on July 1, 1978 as a track machine operator and worked his way to become Director of Track Maintenance until he retired in August of 2014. Early in his career he found the love of his life Mary Miller. They were married on November 7, 1981 at the Beaver Trap Lounge. During their first years of marriage his job took them on many adventures from living in a trailer, bunk car and meeting lifelong friends. Later they settled back to Beaver, UT where they welcomed their son Taylor. After a few years his job took them to Riverside, CA where they welcomed their daughter Mallori. His job continued to take them to new places over the years. Billy loved to golf, spend time in the Beaver mountains and South Creek hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends. After he retired they bought a second home in Beaver Dam, Arizona where they enjoyed going on ATV rides with friends and neighbors.
Billy is survived by his loving wife Mary Margaret Oakden and his children Taylor Karl Oakden (Nikki), Mallori Oakden (Chelsea), grandkids Rhyan Nicole Oakden and Rhyker Christopher Oakden, brother Richard Oakden (Janet), sister Tammy Griffiths (Gary) and many nieces and nephews.
