Winn Auerbach Obituary (1947 - 2025)

Winfried Kurt Auerbach 1947-2025 Winfried Kurt “Winn” Auerbach died peacefully on Monday March 17 2025. He was born March 28, 1947 in Langen, West Germany to Erna and Kurt Auerbach. He came to the United States in December of 1952 with his parents and baby sister Geli. They made their home in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended Highland High, class of “65”, Westminster and the University of Utah. After completing high school he served a mission in Central Germany. He worked in the Cabinetry and Mill business his whole life. Starting as a teen with his dad, he learned the trade from bottom up. He was proud of his talent for drafting, estimating, building and eventually management. He had many friends and acquaintances in the construction industry. He retired n January of 2020 because of health issues related to Covid. Winn loved baseball, softball, volleyball and enjoyed fishing and camping with family and friends. He was proud of his children and their accomplishments and enjoyed seeing them succeed in life; his five beautiful granddaughters were the light of his life. Winn wanted to be remembered as a kind, fair and honest man. He lost touch with many of his friends over the years, but not the memories they shared. Winn met and married, Mary Ballard in June of 1972. They made a life for themselves in Sandy, Utah and raised their three children. Peter (heather), Sarah (Greg) Schoenwolf and Paul (Alyssa). Five granddaughters, Mary Jane and Ire Schoenwolf, Vera and Stella Auerbach, and Violet Auerbach. (Haelei & Daesen Vangend, step-grandchildren) Winn is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren. His sweet sister Geli and her husband Brent Mathews. Also many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Preceded in death by his parents Kurt and Erna. It was Winn’s wish to be cremated and have no services. His family honored that request. Be at peace Winn. We love you and will cherish our memories forever.
