Yoshie Shigemura Sagae Obituary (1929 - 2015)

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Yoshie Shigemura Sagae, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15th, in Sandy, Utah at the age of 87. Yoshie was born in Bauru, São Paulo, Brazil on March 3, 1928 to Hiroaki Shigemura and Sueka Fukunaga, immigrants from Kumamoto, Japan. Yoshie loved recalling her childhood memories of working hard with her family on a farm in Brazil. On February 28th, 1953, Yoshie married Takao Sagae in Figueira, Paraná, Brazil. They later moved to the city of São Paulo where they worked hard to build up a successful laundry business and where they raised a family of three daughters and one son, all of whom immigrated to Utah. After her husband passed away, Yoshie moved to the United States to be closer to her children and spent her remaining 25 years there with them. She was devoted to her children and grand-children and enjoyed being together with them. Yoshie's whole life was one of dedication to the family that she dearly loved and she instilled a deep sense of work, faith and commitment to her children and grandchildren. She loved gardening, sewing and was an excellent cook. Yoshie was a strong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a wonderful example of faith to her family Yoshie is survived by her children, Maria de Lourdes Kioko (Karl) Hancock, Sandy, UT; Terezinha Yoco (Greg) Haddock, Sandy, UT; Cecilia Queiko (Brian) Craig, Santa Rosa, CA; and, Joaquim Keiti (Caroline) Sagae, Draper, UT. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and all but one of her siblings. Yoshie will be greatly missed by those who love her and will always able to look to her example of love, sacrifice, hard work and commitment to family and the Gospel. We love you, Mamai and Batian!
