Zona Harvey Larsen\n1926-2023\n\nZona Harvey Larsen, born September 7, 1926 in Roosevelt, Utah to James Burtrum Harvey and Ethel Diantha Glines Harvey. She passed away September 5, 2023 our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home after suffering a lingering illness of dementia and sundowner. \nShe was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in many positions with her favorite serving in the primary – whom she loved. \nShe taught her children to love and trust the Savior always and never missed a chance to let them know just how important the Savior and the gospel was to her and that we all needed the Savior in our lives to be happy and instilled in us that we also need to help and serve one another. \nShe married Merwin A. Gillis on August 28, 1947, later divorced. Married Ervin Roland Larsen on January 30, 1966 in Salt Lake, marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. \nMom had 10 children that she raised mostly by herself until she married “Rolly” who took on 9 of us and helped us greatly to adulthood. \nMom loved to sew quilts and made many for her grandkids she even taught some of her grandsons to do quilts.\nShe always made holidays special for all of her family and grandkids by having brunches. She always cooked for 2 weeks ahead making cookies and candy and pies. She loved to raise a garden and each summer we would go to her house in the basin and can. She loved camping and always took some of the grandkids with her and Dad, which the kids really loved their special time making memories with them. Mom’s greatest love is her grandkids and loved each one in their own special way. She made special memories for them by the things she did with them. She felt sad when it got hard for her to travel to games and special events for the kids. It was hard when she couldn’t remember things or events. \nShe taught us great values of love and service and especially how important the gospel and the Savior is in our lives. \nShe was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings, two granddaughters, her husband Ervin, daughters – Sharon Bird and Connie Jenkins. \nSurvived by 5 daughters – Joyce Lee, Rheta (Darryl) Higley, Janice Fitzgerald, Judy (Steve) Burgess, Nancy (Ray) Buckner; 3 sons – Doug (Donna) Gillis, James Larsen, Randy (Brenda) Gillis, 47 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren. \nFuneral services held Friday, September 15, 2023, 11:00 am at the Valley View Ward, 5927 So. Park Wood Dr., Kearns, UT where a viewing will be held Thursday, September 14, 6 – 8 pm and Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 am. Interment will be in Tridell Cemetery, Tridell, Utah on Saturday September 16th at 11:00 am.
